Trip to the Wind Rivers

September 6, 2023 by Darin Gibby

This year we did our annual trip to the Wind Rivers in Wyoming, ever in search of the allusive golden trout. We left from the Allen Diamon 4 Ranch outside of Lander and took horses on a seven-hour trek over the Bears Ears pass. From the trail, you can see across the valley to the…

Chambers Rankings and Thoughts on AI

July 18, 2023 by Darin Gibby

Today Chambers came out with their annual intellectual property rankings. I was fortunate to receive their top ranking once again.  Here is the article.   As part of the announcement, Law Week Colorado contacted me about my thoughts on the future of patent law.  Here are some of my musings, especially as to how AI…

Back in La Jolla

July 10, 2023 by Darin Gibby

We finally made it to La Jolla for our summer stint.  They replaced the traditional fireworks show with some drones. Cool, but a little underwhelming. Looking forward to a little down time on the beach and a lot of surfing. I’m also hoping to polish off my next book.  More to come …

Review of The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles

March 6, 2022 by Darin Gibby

I’m not sure what planet I’m living on, but until about a month ago, I had never heard of Amor Towles.  When I saw the reviews on his books, I decided to try one out. I chose his latest novel, The Lincoln Highway.  I was hooked from the first page. When I finished reading The…

Fall In Yosemite

October 26, 2021 by Darin Gibby

We took our first trip to Yosemite last week.  We stayed at the Ahwahnee hotel and it was fantastic.  The photos were so good that I had to share a few of them.   I took this at sunset just outside our hotel. Half Dome glowed pink and orange and the reflection is from the…

East Troublesome Fire in Rocky Mountain National Park

October 25, 2020 by Darin Gibby

I spent most of this past summer hiking into a large part of the lakes in RMNP.  I’ve posted on each of my trips in earlier posts.  With news of the fire, I’ve been closely monitoring its progress through the areas I’ve visited.  I’ve been greatly disheartened to see that several of my favorite lakes,…

Update on Racketeering With Revolvers

September 2, 2020 by Darin Gibby

This week I visited NYC to meet with my agent and discuss the status of my manuscript.  It was an eye opening visit, especially learning the current state of the publishing business.  In short, it’s quite the mess.  The one thing that hasn’t changed is that everyone still takes off the month of August.  Thus,…

Pear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park

August 22, 2020 by Darin Gibby

I did my last hike of the season to Pear Lake in RMNP.  I love this hike as you pass Finch lake and a really cool lily pond.  I wanted to go to the Hutcheson lakes above Pear, but after all the hikes this summer I was completely worn out.  Plus, the fishing for Greenback…

Update on The Vintage Club

August 21, 2020 by Darin Gibby

It’s finally recorded!  Harry Shaw has finished his production, and now I am reviewing.  This should take me a few days, then we submit to Audible.  They are taking about six weeks.  That means that sometime in September The Vintage Club should be available.
