When visiting the Museum of Models in the old patent office (now the National Portrait Gallery), visitors could purchase Keim’s guide to the museum which is shown below. As part of the tour, patrons could view General Washington’s Commission to take command of the army of the United Colonies, the original Declaration of Independence, Washington’s camp articles from the war of Independence, and Abraham Lincoln’s 1849 patent model, in addition to the tens of thousands of other patent models.
