I just returned from a trip to Malaysia, Bali and Sydney, Australia. Most of it was work related, but I did manage to do a little surfing in Bali and swim in Icebergs near Bondi beach (since there were no waves and we couldn’t surf). But the highlight of the trip was the food, especially in Kuala Lumpur. The trip to KL was worth it just for the food–it really was that good. I’ve posted some of the highlights below.
I started my trip in Kuala Lumpur and stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in a long time. Great rooms, gym, lap pool and restaurants. Here was a typical breakfast.

Their dinner was just as good, especially the deserts.

The best meal I had on the entire trip was at the Yun House restaurant. It was Chinese food, but like none I’ve ever had before. The Peking Duck and Kobe beef melted in your mouth.

This lobster was the best I’ve ever had.

And for dessert, we had pumpkin soup. I know it doesn’t sound good, but it was amazing.

The only downside was the price–$350 per person. Ouch. I wasn’t prepared for that–but it was still worth it.
Then off to Bali where I stayed in Canguu. After surfing, I always had breakfast at the Negrita Cafe. So much on their menu, and it was all so good, especially the fresh juices and fruit.

One night I ate at the Manhattan. Really quaint and fantastic food.

And the best part was I didn’t get Bali belly this time–maybe because I brought and water filter and filtered evertying–including bottled water.
From there, off to Syndey, Australia, which is my favorite city in the world. We were supposed to surf, but unfortunately the waves were flat so we swam at Icebergs–and it was really cold.

I stayed at the Sydney Hilton which is great because of its location. I love eating at The Grounds, and always make sure to get their hot chocolate.

My last meal was in Belmore, with a nice view of the bay. Here was the desert.
